about

Makyo’s debut album, originally released on San Francisco's legendary ambient label Silent Records in 1996. Recorded between 1993 to 1995. Inspired by Brian Eno & David Byrne’s “My Life in the Bush of Ghosts“ and African Head Charge’s “Songs of Praise“, “rasa bhava” was a seminal album in exploring the potential points of connection between traditional eastern music and modern sampledelic montage, fusing Hindustani and Arabic music with elements of dub and ambient. The soundscape includes everything from Thai temple bells and cheap pirated Bollywood tapes, to zen Buddhist chants and 808 beats. 25 years on, it still sounds unique.
